We are locals and love our piece of paradise but love sharing it with visitors to the area.
Gerard is a business leader and has worked alongside a lot of the local businesses over the years and is passionate about helping them grow and sharing local knowledge. Janet, has a marketing and economics degree with marketing experience in publishing & tourism and runs the Kiwi Bach and Holiday Homes business with help from Gerard and their family of 4 children.

AUTUMN 2012 - OHOPE ACHIEVER - Duncan McFarlane
Duncan McFarlane’s mother, Elizabeth lives here in Ohope. He is based in USA and he came back to Ohope to have Christmas 2011 with his family. He has been very successful internationally with his horse “Mr Whoopy”.
Duncan purchased “Mr Whoopy” his prize stallion three years ago in Germany. “The horse has jumped well all year
- in the four Grand Prix before New York he had jumped clean in all four.”

AUTUMN 2012 KIDS HERO - Allyson Gofton
Allyson Gofton has been cooking and writing about food for New Zealanders for over 20 years as well as being a mother of two - Jean-Luc 8 and Olive-Rose 4. We love trying your receipes from your latest two cooking books and always get the thumbs up from the 4 children/young adults sitting around the dinner table!! Thanks Allyson for being our "Kids Hero" for the local Ohope Tide magazine.

Lisa Carrington - 2012 Olympic GOLD Medalist
Local hero - LISA CARRINGTON - will be arriving back in Ohope, New Zealand from the 2012 Olympic Games with GOLD. At only 16 years old Lisa had already achieved at high levels within New Zealand and was the NZ U16 Ski Championship back in 2005. We profiled Lisa in our local Ohope Tide magazine as the Ohope Achiever back in 2005 which we have taken some of the information below from. We will have to profile her again soon now that she is famous around the world!!

Winter 2011 OHOPE ACHIEVER - Gordon Tietjens
Gordon Tietjens has forged a profession from his passion of rugby and is the New Zealand Sevens coach with 10 world series titles, a Rugby World Cup Sevens win in 2001 and all four Commonwealth Games gold medals contested to date under his belt. Gordon owns a holiday home in Ohope and brings the sevens team to the area for training sessions. Thanks Gordon for being our Ohope Achiever and we wish you all the best for the future.
